April 2008 and a handful of us visited the annual Wooden Shoe Tulip Fest in Woodburn, Oregon. The cars were a big hit with the folks there to see the beautiful flowers.
June 29th, and a pleasant back roads trip north out of Vancouver, WA. took us to a nice lunch in the Merwin Dam park on the west end of Merwin Lake.
July 9th found us at the weekly Beaches Restaurant Cruise-in at Portland International Raceway. Touted as "the largest weekly cruise-in west of the Mississippi", the Wednesday event often has more than 1,000 cars and motorcycles in attendance.
The 2008 Summer Cruise/Tour took place July 25, 26, & 27th. Between two days of fun driving, we spent one night at the Red Lion Inn in Bend, OR. and as you can see we had some prime parking spots.
Not many folks have a front lawn large enough to accommodate 14 Cobras (and 1 GT40) side by side, but that was the case when we had our annual Summer Picnic/BBQ at Tim L.'s house on August 16th. Good food, good folks, good fun!
Our first annual Covered Bridge tour took place on Sept. 7th, 2008 and featured 16 Cobras and 3 daily drivers. We spent a beautiful September day driving through (or past) 7 covered bridges and had lunch at Pioneer park in Stayton, OR.
Late in September and the weather cooperated for a fun (but windy) run to the Maryhill Museum beside the Columbia River on the Washington side.
And since it's not ALL about the cars...our annual Christmas/Holiday party brought a few laughs as Steve P. received his "Drive it like you stole it" award. I took one look at (then club Pres.) Don N.'s face and totally forgot what the award was for...oh well.
This is just a small sample of the events that took place in 2008. Oh, by the way, I have over 9,500 photos related to Cascade Cobras members and events. Aren't you glad I cut this short? Until next time...
